What bagpipes should I get?
i am looking to buy a pair of bagpipes and i am a beginner i’ve never played bagpipes before and i think i found a good pair of bagpipes(http://www.amazon.com/Lark-in-the-Morning-Complete/dp/B0002YXFHE/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1250896846&sr=8-17) these are rosewood pipes and ive been told that rosewood isnt the type of wood you want for your pipes please give all input on bagpipes and what types are best for a beginner
Most rosewood pipes are poorly made and come out of Pakistan, the quality is totally hit or miss and usually miss. The chanters are practically never playable.

You will probably not want to purchase a set of bagpipes until you are working with an instructor, have the basics down and can get his or her help selecting a set. A new piper begins learning on a practice chanter which is remotely similar to a recorder and is usually available for about $100. A good used set of pipes will usually run $600 and up and a good new wood set will run over $1,000 or a few hundred less for a plastic (Poly/Delrin) set.
