Choosing Oak Skirting Boards Colours

Choosing oak skirting boards colours can be challenging. Usually this is due to the fact that oak is a wood that most people won’t want cover with paint when they are using it for their skirting boards. Oak is such a great wood that often people just look to stain it rather than paint it. You can use different kinds of wood stain and that can help you find different colours for your skirting boards.

look at Skirting and Skirting Boards also see Oak Skirting Boards Depending on the room you are going to place the boards in your oak skirting boards colours may vary. You need to make sure that you choose a colour that works with the room. Choosing a bold colour isn’t necessary because you don’t want to take away from the natural beauty of the oak itself. Most people choose oak because of its gorgeous grain. In most cases oak does just fine by itself and doesn’t require much enhancement. If you were to paint the oak then you are going to cover up what is naturally beautiful about it.

A better way to go is to stain the oak boards. There are lots of wood stain colours to choose from. You can choose from dark wood stain, light coloured wood stain and you can also get clear wood varnish. The clear varnish lets the true color and grain of the wood stand out. If you were to choose a dark wood stain then you will not see as much of the natural wood grain. On the other hand, choosing a light wood stain keeps the oak grain visible and adds to the look of the board.

The damage that stain and paint usually protect from is the elements. This isn’t such a worry with skirting boards. Skirting boards should last for a while because the only exposure to elements they may see is some dampness in the air.
