Egypt’s Great Sphinx
Egypt has the Great Sphinx at Giza Plateau on the West Bank; it is a statue of a mystical creature with a lion’s body and a human head. The Sphinx is the oldest known monumental sculpture in the world, and is also the largest monolith statue, at 73.5 metres high; the Sphinx is believed to have been built during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafra. The sphinx dates back to between 2558 and 2532 BC.
Mt Kilimanjaro
Mt Kilimanjaro is found in Tanzania, and it’s a great mountain for climbing for those interested in a Tanzania safari. The tallest of Africa’s mountains, and also the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, Mt Kilimanjaro reaches 5893m at its summit.
