Shaping Your Yard For A Garden
It is early in the morning and you are under your king quilt. Thoughts of your backyard garden, slowly invade your mind. Do you want to have a lovely flower garden? Land slope
Is your yard uneven and at a slope. There are things that you can do to fix that. Look at your land and decide on some possible spots. You can level and section off a plot with landscape timbers. These timbers are not perfectly square. They are rounded on the edges. You may find them in several different sizes. They do not cost a lot of money. There are economical ways to landscape with these timbers.
You can purchase ready-made kits for your garden spot. They are good for smaller areas. Sandbox kits will work well for a small garden, also. They tend to be expensive. It is cheaper to use landscape timbers and cut them to size with your Mcculloch chainsaw. This lumber is pressure treated. It will withstand rot and insects. They can usually be found at home improvement centers and lumberyards.
You may have to do some digging to make you garden area level. This will depend largely on the shape and slope of your yard. You can stack landscape timbers for your area. Make sure that you stagger them. This will add strength to them. Wooden stakes will also work for supports. You can drive them into the ground with a hammer.
Pressure treated lumber is another choice for gardens and landscaping. It is different from the landscape timbers. All of the edges are square. This will make them stack easier. They will give you a more neater and uniform look. They are considerably more expensive than landscape timbers, also.
Railroad ties are an excellent choice for gardens and landscaping. They are suitable for larger projects. You can give your land a rustic look with lumber from railroads. You will need equipment like Husqvarna chainsaws and sledge hammers. They can be cut to any size that you need. They may be expensive. However you may be able to cut cost by using used railroad ties. The new ties will be in better condition. They will last longer also.
