The wood floors under my carpet are painted or primed white?
I want to restore and expose the floors myself. Is there anyone who can help me in step by step directions and maybe why some one would paint wood floors white? Do you think something might be wrong with them. Help
Doesn’t really matter why someone painted it or what kind of paint it is, it needs to be sanded down and refinished. Take a good look at the floor before you decide to do this and see what kind of overall shape the floor is in. Does the wood look ok, not cracked or patched up in areas, gouged, etc. If so, you need to get a floor sander, which is not easy to use. You need to sand down the entire floor evenly, and the edges usually need to be done by hand, or with a smaller power sander. Then, you need to decide what kind of stain to use. Then, you need to put at least 2 or 3 coats of polyurethane. Good luck!
