Samsung CLP 500 – A Slick Business Arrangement
The Samsung CLP 500 printer was designed for small offices though since it does not have networking capabilities it is really a perfect printer for home and personal use. All paper trays including both input and output trays can hold up to 250 pages of paper. Small offices will go through 250 pages quite easily so they will have to constantly be filling the paper tray. The best toner for this printer is the CLP 500 printer toner cartridge.
Once you have found a home for the printer it is best to stay there, as the CLP 500 is quite hefty, weight 35 kg when fully loaded. It tends to print graphics better then text though the differences are minute.
Color printing can produce 5 pages per minute and black and white printing has a high speed of 20 pages per minute. When printing the highest quality color printouts the printer slows to 2 pages per minute. The LCD screen and available buttons make it very easy to use.
The printer can be connected to your computer using a parallel port or USB cable, though the USB cable is not provided with the printer. For an additional cost you can have Ethernet and wireless networking added though you may as well upgrade to the Samsung CLP 500N printer if you want these. However the printer will do double sided printing, which may be a good option instead of having wireless networking options. It can be connected to a PC of Mac computer.
The difference is not so great that you could not use the printer for home, personal or small office use. Though if you print a lot of text and not so much graphics you may want to look into another printer.
The starter toner cartridge will only last about 2,000 pages so you will need to purchase a new Samsung CLP 500 printer toner cartridge fairly quickly. The full size toner cartridge will last for an average of 7,500 pages. The printer uses a 4-color toner system. The memory on the machine is quite high, 65 MB, and can be expanded further to 192 MB for an additional cost.
The largest page size that the printer prints on is 8.5 inches in width and 14 inches in length. The printing resolution is 12000 x 12000 dpi and can print on recycled paper, postal card paper, plain paper, labels, transparencies, and envelopes. It is compatible with the following operating systems, SuSe Linux, TurboLinux, Red Hat Linux, Apple MacOS 8.6 or later, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 95 or later, Caldera Open Linux, Slackware Linux, Debian Linux, and Linux Mandrake.
The Samsung CLP 500 printer is excellent, particularly for its price range. It produces high quality printouts quickly and quietly. The CLP 500 cartridge needed is the CLP 500 cartridge. You will get plenty of use out of this printer and it will meet all of your small office or home printing needs. It’s the best toner.
