primitive camp in wilderness?
My cabin is built with T1-11 wood . It was built about 6 years ago.I thought I could just let it weather but I was told it needs to be stained or painted with some kind of weather proofing paint and that I I need to prime it first. Is this really necessary. Can’t I just use a waterproofing deck stain or some kind of oil stain such as Cabots and
skip the priming. Do I need to do anything at all ?This is just a one room cabin and little porch .
T1-11 is just a fancy name for plywood. If it isn’t primed and sealed it will begin to de-laminate and will lose it’s ability to repel the weather. It will hold moisture and rot, surprised it hasn’t already. If you don’t want to prime it at least paint it. At this point will probably take several coats to thoroughly seal it.
