Why are boxers and Boxing fans bashing MMA well in fact boxing was originally like MMA?
I keep hearing boxers and boxing fans say that MMA is for sissies and that boxing will defeat it.But BOXING WAS ORIGINALLY LIKE MMA!Originally,in the Bare Knuckle boxing era,boxing had wrestling techniques,sweeps and throws,dirty tricks such as eye-gouging,and kicks from another ancient British martial art called Shin Kicking!So why do they keep saying this?

Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts share similar origins
Both brought together traditional martial arts with sensationalist pit fighting in an effort to find the most profitable balance of excitement and social acceptability.
Boxing comes to us from two main sources.
The first is a sophisticated exercise used to train fencers. This had clear rules and was used to develop martial skill. It would have been entertaining to watch only if you were a knowledgeable fencer.
The other is what we would call “no-hold-barred pit fighting.”
By applying elements of an aristocratic art like fencing to prize fighting, boxing promoters gained some acceptability and increased their market.
MMA has essentially done the same thing, but seems to be tweaking the balance a little. In the process, MMA promoters have learned a lot from the experience of boxing promoters.
And now it seems that boxing is learning some things from MMA. Boxing is no longer the only kid on the block, and that is a good thing for boxing.
A little healthy competition is a good thing. For heaven’s sake. That is why these sports are there in the first place.
