Homemade Baby Shower Favors
For people who have the time to spare, making baby shower favors at home has become a popular option. The main reason for this is that they can not only save the money they would have paid to buy those favors but also occasionally make money doing favors for others. The washcloth lollipop is one of the well-known baby shower favors. These baby shower favors are simple to make and require only some washcloths (two per lollipop), adhesive tape, cellophane and a stick. For best results, the washcloths have to be in varying colors.
1. Along their longer sides, fold the washcloths.
2. Fold along both longer sides once more so that the ends of the folds meet at the middle. Then fold the entire thing at the middle to hide the ends.
3. The short ends of the cloths need to be held together by the tape.
4. Place two washcloths, one short end over the other.
5. Apply plenty of tape at the junction.
6. Roll up everything into a bun.
7. Tape on the stick to one side of the bun securely
8. Cut out a square portion of the cellophane, just enough to wrap the bun with some allowance for the frills and tie in with ribbon.
The right combination of shades, patterns and textures will give you a lollipop collection that is suitable to set as a decorative piece on a table. You can also experiment with various light shades of cellophane to create subtle variations of color. These baby shower favors are ideal of giving the hostess of the baby shower or the guests attending the baby shower. If you are hosting, be sure and invite other mothers to come with their babies. Prior to giving them out to the guests, they can be used as bouquets to liven up the room.
Other baby shower favors that are easy to do are boxed up delicacies. You will only need some cartolina paper and the tarts, candies and cookies that you intend to distribute to the guests. With your adhesive tape and a good pair of scissors, you are all set to make your charming packages of sweets. Download templates for fancy boxes from the internet. There are some which are available for free. Of course you have to include the folding guide for these templates. After doing a few boxes, you will get some original inspirations of your own to create variations of those boxes. Packing your goodies in boxes of different shapes will add to the excitement of those receiving them.
Although cartolina is the most suitable material, you may also use thinner paper types. You can pack fewer things into these. It is a good idea to place the goodies in packs or pouches before enclosing them in the boxes. These pouches may be ready made plastic bags or cellophane paper that you yourself need to cut out. To secure everything in the boxes you can place a final cellophane wrap around them. Finally tie up the baby shower favors with a pretty knot.
